Professors Higashiyama and Itami's sugar molecule for plant fertilization, AMOR is now commercially available

Professors Tetsuya Higashiyama (Vice Director of ITbM) and Kenichiro Itami (Director of ITbM), and their research groups have developed a sugar chain molecule that increases the fertilization efficiency in Torenia fournieri, AMOR, which is now commercially available from TCI.

Activation Molecule for Response-Capability (AMOR) is taken from the Latin word meaning "love" and "cupid", thus illustrating its function to bring female and male organs together. This disaccharide, i.e. a double sugar, is responsible for activating pollen tubes to increase the efficiency of plant fertilization.
