Professor Tetsuya Higashiyama, Vice-Director of ITbM, receives the Chunichi Cultural Award
Professor Tetsuya Higashiyama, Vice-Director at the Institute of Transformative Bio-Molecules (ITbM), has been selected to receive the 2018 (71st) Chunichi Cultural Award.
The Chunichi Cultural Award was established in 1947 to commemorate the enforcement of the Constitution of Japan, by Chunichi Shimbun, a daily Japanese newspaper mainly distributed in the Tokai region. The award is granted to individuals and groups with outstanding accomplishments in the arts and science fields, contributing to the promotion of culture. The nominees are recommended from various fields and Chunichi Shimbun selects the winner based on advice from experts.
Professor Higashiyama receives this award for "the clarification of the fertilization mechanism in plants".
The Award Ceremony is scheduled to take place on May 31, 2018 at the Chunichi Palace in Nagoya.
