Transient Shadows

Term: March 5 - 29, 2024
Artist: Elizabeth Wood

In this exhibition, Transient Shadows, Elizabeth explored the outlines of figures standing in solitary union with the moon. Each work was intended to capture a momentary portrait of the individual through the shape and form of the shadow they cast in relation to the moon. Both shadow and moonlight are ephemeral and transitory, and therefore rich with the potential to capture emotion and mood. The moon has long been a muse for artists throughout history. This exhibition was inspired by the series: One Hundred Aspects of the Moon by Tsukioka Yoshitoshi.
