Prof. Torii chairs the judging panel of the 2nd Brilliant Women Researchers Award (Jun Ashida Award)

Prof. Keiko Torii (ITbM's Overseas PI) acted as chair of judges for the Japan Science and Technology Agency's 2nd Brilliant Women Researchers Award (Jun Ashida Award), whose ceremony was held on Sunday November 15th and was featured on NHK News. Speaking via video link at the ceremony, Professor Torii paid tribute to the creativity of Japanese female researchers, and spoke of how she hoped that the establishment of such awards and recognition of female scientists' efforts would encourage the next generation of young researchers.

Awards were presented to Nami Sakai of Riken and Ayuko Hoshino of the Tokyo Institute of Technology, with Gunma University winning an award for its support of female researchers as an organization.
