Transient Shadows

Term: March 5 - 29, 2024
Artist: Elizabeth Wood

In this exhibition Transient Shadows, I explore the outlines of figures as they stand in a solitary union with the moon. Each work is intended to capture a momentary portrait of the individual by the shape and form of the shadow it casts in relation to the moon. Both shadows and moonlight are ephemeral and transitory and as a result, rich with the potential to capture emotion and mood. The moon has long been a muse for artists throughout history. This exhibition was inspired by the series: One Hundred Aspects of the Moon by Tsukioka Yoshitoshi.
