GTR seminar / Advanced Bioscience seminar

We will hold a GTR Advanced Bioscience seminar in June focused on a new method of disease transmission by Aedes mosquitoes.
Outbreaks of dengue are becoming increasingly common as its' mosquito vector (Aedes aegypti) spreads worldwide. Mathematical modelling of these outbreaks plays an important role in organising public health responses; these models rely heavily on animal models of disease transmission. In this seminar, Dr ChunHong Chen will describe a new transmission method for dengue (Mechanical transmission) which could significantly supplement known routes, and contribute to the growth rate and magnitude of dengue outbreaks in densely populated regions

Date: June 6th (Mon.) 2022, 14:00 - 15:30 online

Speaker: Dr. ChunHong Chen (National Health Research Institutes, Taiwan)

Title:Mechanical transmission of dengue by Aedes mosquitoes contributes to disease proliferation
